Enjoy the comforts of spacious elegant bedrooms where high ceilings and wooden floors offset crisp linen. A sparkling pool for summer and log fires in winter. Within safe walking distance from excellent restaurants and many attractions.
A delicious breakfast is personally prepared and served by us.
Dinners are also served for groups of 6 to 8 only, on request (at least 24 hours in advance, please). Braai (barbecue) equipment, a swimming pool and secured parking are available on the premises.
The home "AIRLIES", has been named after the farm near Wigtown in Scotland where Isabel, the Scottish bride of Dr Charles Muller grew up. They commissioned the pioneer architect, Wynand Louw to design and build the house for them, circa 1910.
Both Charles and Isabel were medical doctors and practised from this house. They were both buried on the ridge near where the British fort has been built above the tunnel in Cogmanskloof, the western gateway into Montagu.
Montagu is the western gateway to the Little Karoo as well as the scenic heart of Route 62, the historic link between Cape Town, the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth (ADDO Elephant Park) and is about 2 hours drive from Cape Town. It is the perfect stop for tourists travelling between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is about 6 hours drive to the east.
A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montagu as one of the best kept late Victorian agricultural villages in the Western Cape. The many attractions and the fact that Montagu is centrally situated makes it a sought after tourist town and perfect base from where the countryside can be explored.
